Partnerships with Parents
At Keiki Day Care, we recognise the vital role that parents play in their child's early development. Our partnerships with parents are built on trust, communication, and collaboration. We regularly share updates and insights into your child’s experiences, ensuring that we work together to support their growth. By aligning our care with your family’s values and goals, we create a consistent and nurturing environment both at home and in our nursery. At Keiki Day Care, we’re committed to fostering a strong, supportive community where every child can flourish.

Nutrition
We offer high standard meals, lovingly prepared in our kitchen rated 5* for food hygiene. Our chef works hard to ensure that food is cooked on a daily basis and is fresh and of course extremely tasty!
All meals are accompanied with water and there is a snack and milk time available too. We cater for all children and deal with any dietary requirements. We hold a dietary requirement sheet in both rooms and the kitchen, displaying every child who has a medical allergy, religious requirement or a parental requirement which is then updated every 4 weeks.

Curriculum
At Keiki Day Care, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, which is England’s national framework for early education and childcare. This curriculum guides our approach to nurturing and educating young children, ensuring that they experience a balanced and comprehensive early learning journey. Our curriculum is both play-based and child-centered, allowing each child to learn through active exploration and discovery, tailored to their individual needs and interests.
Personal, Social, and Emotional Development
We create a warm and inclusive environment where children learn to form positive relationships, develop self-confidence, and manage their emotions. Activities encourage sharing, cooperation, and respect for others, helping children build strong social skills.
Communication and Language
Through storytelling, songs, and conversations, we support the development of listening, speaking, and understanding. Our language-rich environment helps children expand their vocabulary and communicate effectively with peers and adults.
Physical Development
We promote both fine and gross motor skills through a variety of activities, including outdoor play, dance, and arts and crafts. Children learn the importance of physical activity, health, and self-care practices, such as washing hands and dressing independently.
Literacy
Early literacy is fostered through daily reading sessions, phonics activities, and opportunities for children to explore writing. We encourage a love for books and storytelling, laying the foundation for future reading and writing skills.
Mathematics
Our curriculum introduces basic mathematical concepts through play, such as counting, sorting, and pattern recognition. Children engage with numbers, shapes, and simple problem-solving activities, helping them develop early numeracy skills.
Understanding the World
We encourage children to explore the world around them, learning about nature, people, cultures, and technology. Activities include nature walks, observing seasonal changes, and celebrating diverse cultural traditions, fostering curiosity and a sense of community.
Making Choices and Taking Risks
At Keiki Day Care, we empower children to make choices and take appropriate risks within a safe and supportive environment. This helps them develop decision-making skills, independence, and resilience, which are crucial for their overall development.
Settling in at Keiki
At Keiki Day Care, we understand that starting nursery is a significant milestone for both children and their families. Our settling-in process is designed to ensure a smooth and positive transition, making each child feel safe, secure, and comfortable in their new environment. We take a personalised approach, recognising that each child’s needs and readiness are unique.

Introductory Meeting
Before your child’s first day, we invite you and your child to visit Keiki Day Care for an introductory meeting. This is an opportunity to meet the key staff members, explore the nursery, and ask any questions you may have.
Familiarisation Sessions
We offer short visits where your child can explore the nursery and engage in activities while you stay close by. These sessions help your child become familiar with the new environment at their own pace.
Stay and Play
In the beginning, parents are encouraged to stay with their child during the sessions to provide reassurance. As your child becomes more settled, you can gradually reduce the time you spend at the nursery.
Personalised Approach
We recognise that each child is different, and the settling-in process will be adapted to suit your child’s individual needs. Whether your child requires more time or is ready to settle quickly, we’ll work closely with you to ensure the process is smooth and stress-free.
Continuous Support
Even after your child has settled in, our team will continue to observe and support their well-being. We’ll keep you informed about their progress and ensure they are thriving in their new environment.
Feedback and Adjustments
If needed, we’re always open to making adjustments to better support your child’s transition. Your feedback is valuable in helping us provide the best care possible.
I have two children at Keiki aged 18 months and 3 years old. My oldest settled straight away and has always loved going to nursery. My younger child is more reserved and attached to his mum, but they have been amazing helping him settle. The staff have really made him feel calm and happy.

Meals & Enrichment at Keiki
Government funding does not include meals or additional enrichment experiences.
At Keiki, we choose to offer both because we believe they genuinely enhance children’s wellbeing, confidence and development.
We ask for a voluntary contribution of £8 per funded day, broken down as:
£4 for freshly prepared meals and snacks
£4 for our enrichment programme
Our enrichment programme may include:
-
Play and learning support delivered by an external specialist
-
Music sessions

Children’s yoga
-
Monthly pottery workshops
-
Other visiting specialist experiences throughout the year
These experiences are delivered by experienced external providers and are additional to the core EYFS curriculum.
Important – This Contribution Is Optional!
The daily contribution is entirely voluntary and is not a condition of accessing your child’s funded place.
If you prefer not to opt in:
You may provide your child’s meals and snacks from home (in line with our Food Policy)
Your child will continue to receive high-quality early education in accordance with EYFS requirements
We simply ask for four weeks’ written notice if you wish to change your opt-in status for the following term.
Nappies, wipes and creams are provided by parents.
If We Have a Waiting List
We always aim to accommodate families wherever possible.
If we are unable to offer a place immediately due to a waiting list, we will support you by signposting to other suitable local nursery providers so that your child’s funded entitlement is not delayed.
How We Offer Funded Hours
Government funding is based on 38 weeks per year.
At Keiki, we stretch funded hours across 51 weeks so families can benefit from continuity of care throughout the year:
15 hours becomes 11.18 hours per week over 51 weeks
